Statement from Dr. Claudia Maizen about the translation of Med-Courses by Prof. Reinhard Graf on the Learning Hospital platform
Dr. Claudia MAIZEN, Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, The Royal London Hospital…
Through my translation of Professor Reinhard Graf’s lectures, we were able to demonstrate how knowledge can be transported and transferred across countries and languages.

Continuing Medical Education (CME points)
I completed my orthopedic training, including the Graf hip ultrasound courses, at the Medical University of Graz and moved to London in 2004 to further my pediatric orthopedic training and later continued to work there as a consultant for pediatric orthopedics at one of the largest university hospitals in the UK.
Knowledge and expertise can be lost
With my experience in both the German and Anglo-American healthcare systems and as a teacher for international hip ultrasound courses for almost 10 years, I have experienced how much knowledge and expertise can be “lost in translation”, and in some cases, even lead to confusion. This equally applies to courses, scientific papers, and even textbooks.
Sharing medical knowledge
I am happy to share my knowledge with international students through my translation of the course content.
LEARNING HOSPITAL – open platform for continuing medical education
Thanks to the Learning Hospital platform and this cooperation we are able to transfer knowledge and expertise from Austria via London to many other countries, which is fantastic.
Thank you!
